Basic dates about „Light for Uganda“ relief project

- January 2005 – we firstly visited Uganda and could touch with our own hands poor communities and children in rural areas of Iganga district and Nakulabya slum in Kampala.
- March-June 2005 – lectures, radio programmes, photographes exhibition, public money collection to support children. Collected 2000 USD. Money was sent to Uganda and local field workers bought school uniformes and mosqito nets for kids. Due to this fact malaria prevalence in some villiges significantly decreased.
- In next three years we were regularly using materials and experiences in our lectures and educative programmes.
- January 2008 – second visit of Uganda, including places such as Iganga villages, Nakulabya Junior School. We did lots of new photographes, updated our information, made a list of most needy kids. After we came back to the Czech Republic, we were able to gradually raise 23 families or individual donors who commited to support kids from our list. 23 kids could start going to schools and their destinies could start to be changed.
- August – September 2009 – our third visit of Uganda. Due to the fact, that our donors wanted to know more detailed information about „their kids“, we decided to organize a monitoring field trip with a purpose to visit all villages where these kids were living. We wanted to talk to them, thier foster parents, relatives and leaders of their communities. We visited 11 villages and made a video-postcard for Czech supporters with authentic materials about lives of children. Moreover, we made a lot of new updated phactographic, video and photo materials, that we could make many new lectures for schools, public, and spoke couple times in national TV and radio.
- Spring 2010 – we are now having 45 supported children in Uganda! Besides that, we intend to publish a book about Uganda, that could be a fundraising source for next activities to develop this project.
